HOT DOCS 2019: KILLING PATIENT ZERO
Director Laurie Lynd goes back in time to trace the AIDS epidemic back in the early 80s when this virus was killing thousands of gay men in which they would first call the “gay cancer”. In Killing Patient Zero, the film focuses on Québec flight Gaétan Dugas who was accused of spreading this disease because of hedonistic and promiscuous behaviour. Decades later, Laurie Lynd becomes inspired to reveal the truth of why Gaétan was accused and the wrath of homophobia at the time.
