Mike Flanagan’s Carrie set to spook @TIFF 2026

Director Mike Flanagan is at it again with another adaptation of a Stephen King classic. Carrie is being revamped as a limited series on Prime that promises a modern twist. The series will premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival under the Primetime section.

Actress Summer Howell will be leading this ensemble as Carrie White. She obviously has big shoes to fill after Sissy Spacek’s iconic performance back in 1976, but this actress has game, having appeared in Curse of Chucky. Also in the film is actress Samantha Sloyan, who plays Carrie’s overprotective mother, Margaret. Along with Matthew Lilard, who plays Principal Gayle and Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin.

The series is 8 episodes long and will premiere on Prime on October 7th. The story of a sheltered girl who is bullied in high school, which leads to a bloody incident, is Stephen King’s brainchild, to say the least. With the domineering influence of her mother, all eyes will also be on Samantha Sloyan in this series.

Director Mike Flanagan, who has been dominating horror on both the movie and television front, is expected to make Carrie one of his finest. After Doctor Sleep and the success of The Life of Chuck at TIFF, this version is certainly a celebration of one of the most horrifying and revengeful stories of all time. It can also serve as a lesson to the youth who bully others. FERNTV says that sometimes karma is bitch.
