Misogyny is no joke. The hatred towards women online has been growing exponentially in the past few years. Directors Guylaine Maroist and Lea Clermont-Dion have been on the receiving side of sexual harassment online to curb this disgusting enthusiasm. Now they have taken a step forward. It is a movement to stop generating online hate and violence towards women on all social media platforms. Backlash: Misogyny in the Digital Age is a documentary film that explores the truth about this subject online. Our digital lives have been fully integrated within us. Which has allowed many of these spaces to be not safe for women.
The directors explore the heavy subject matter through an up close and personal lens. And what it is really like to be on the receiving end of cyberbullying or cyber violence. None of these victims or future victims will be silent anymore. There are ways to stop these predators from doing what they do and resources are available to prevent these heinous attacks.
