Another Body from directors Sophie Compton and Reuben Hamlyn is a must-see. The documentary recently screened at SXSW and Hot Docs in Toronto is a film that raises big questions about an even bigger topic. Artificial Intelligence has grown exponentially and for many of us, it will be difficult to get a grasp of it. Especially when it comes to someone like college student Taylor Klein whose facial images have been used in deep fake pornography. In this documentary, she becomes a victim of this heinous act where she can not control what is circulating online. Even the authorities are useless and it seems impossible for Taylor to seek justice.

Dark Web/Bright Heroes

Despite the film showing the dark side of the web, there is something magical about Taylor’s courage to track down her predator. She uses her smarts to determine who this sophisticated creep is. These efforts suppress the trauma that she goes through. Furthermore, she combines forces with a friend who becomes a victim of deepfake pornography. This bodes well for Taylor because it allows her to feel that she is not alone. This helps her to find an end game in all this and basically to move on in life. So instead of just playing the victim card and feeling sorry for herself, Taylor is a hero. She will be someone that women who have been offended sexually will go to especially when it comes to online predators.

FERNTV had the chance to speak with one of the directors of Another Body. Director Reuben Hamlyn spoke to us about the courage that Taylor has in handling a situation of this magnitude. The director also speaks of the journey in making this film which Hot Docs helped built the foundation for it.
