A24’s Tony digs deep into the life of Anthony Bourdain

A24’s Tony offers an intimate look at the formative years of the late Anthony Bourdain, long before he became one of the world’s most beloved chefs, authors, and storytellers. Directed by BlackBerry filmmaker Matt Johnson and starring The Holdovers breakout Dominic Sessa, the coming-of-age drama follows a 19-year-old Bourdain during a pivotal summer in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where an unexpected job in a bustling restaurant kitchen would forever alter the course of his life.
Rather than attempting to chronicle Bourdain’s entire life, Tony focuses on a single transformative chapter, capturing the restless ambition, raw energy, and youthful uncertainty that shaped the culinary icon’s future. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Antonio Banderas, Emilia Jones, and Leo Woodall, A24’s latest biographical drama arrives in Canadian theatres this August, promising a heartfelt and deeply personal portrait of the man behind the legend. With the momentum that director Matt Johnson has right now, FERNTV believes this is going to be dynamic.
