HOT DOCS 2019: nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up
Director Tasha Hubbard discusses her documentary nîpawistamâsowin: We Will Stand Up which is set to open up the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival in Toronto. Colten Boushie, who was a young Cree Man from Saskatchewan, was killed by a bullet on Gerald Stanley’s farm. Gerald was then found not guilty of second degree murder months which evoked national attention and public outcry. Tasha Hubbard follows the family of Colten Boushie who seeks justice all the way up to the United Nations not only for this wrongful act but a long history of injustices that has been done to indigenous groups.
