HOT DOCS 2018: TURNING TABLES

Published

on

We are very excited here on FERNTV to watch Toronto filmmaker’s Chrisann Hessing‘s short documentary film Turning Tables which will premiere at this year’s Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival.  Turning Tables focuses on indigenous powwow techno DJ Joshua DePerry aka Classic Roots who blends in the sounds of his Anishinaabe heritage with techno and house music.  It follows him on a very important point in his life where he is about to take this sound to Berlin, the techno capital of the world.  Most importantly, all the steps he has taken to become the artist that he is today is giving hope to indigenous youth or any youth who are marginalized.  Furthermore, the city of Toronto who has embraced house and techno for so many decades will no doubt embrace this film as well when they come see it.  Our hearts will be pumping to the sounds of Classic Roots and for director Chrisann Hessing as she will have home field advantage during Hot Docs.
