Anya Taylor Joy in The Menu

Some restaurants are heading in a direction that is considered “too much”. It usually stems from the chef who is just competing with everyone to attain a Michelin star through the menu.

Ralph Fiennes plays Chef Slowik who plays that domineering chef in the film The Menu. He is to serve quite the tasting menu at an exclusive restaurant on a remote island. A young couple by the names of Margot, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, and Tyler, played by Nicholas Hoult, travel to the island to get an unforgettable experience. But this dark comedy horror thriller has some surprises up its sleeve for its audience or should we say “guests”.

Members of the creative team of The Menu are connected with HBO’s Succession. Including director Mark Mylod, producer Adam McKay and screenwriter Will Tracy. Perhaps we can expect much of the same satire when the film screens at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Mark Mylod is known for directing Entourage, Game of Thrones and Succession episodes.

Along with the star power comes quite the ensemble for The Menu that is up with there with My Policeman. The supporting cast includes Janet McTeer (OzarkAlbert Nobbs), John Leguizamo (EncantoMoulin Rouge!), Hong Chau (DownsizingWatchmen), Judith Light (JuliaTransparent), Reed Birney (House of CardsHome Before Dark), Paul Adelstein (True StoryPrison Break), Aimee Carrero (Elena of AvalorMaid), Arturo Castro (Mr. CormanBroad City), Mark St. Cyr (High School Musical: The Musical — The Series) and Rob Yang (SuccessionThe Resident).

So I guess everyone is ready to take their knives out?
