HOT DOCS 2018: THE DEVIL WE KNOW

FERNTVÂ enjoyed director Cullen Hoback’s film What Lies Upstream last year when it screened at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival in Toronto and brought up the drinking water issue that has been horrifying the residents of West Virginia and the rest of America. Â With much admiration on the part of the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival, the issue continues to press on and now we have a new perspective on one of the biggest environmental scandals of our time. Â Directors Stephanie Soechtig and Jeremy Seifert present their documentary The Devil We Know to focus on the ever so deadly chemical Teflon which has been produced by the company Dupont and 3M and appeared in our waters and products. Â The chemical has entered into the drinking waters of the residents of West Virginia and furthermore been found in the blood of 99.7% of Americans. Â Both directors who were behind gems like FED UP and GMO OMG have taken their investigative directing expertise to unravel this scandal from all necessary angles. Â Having made such a buzz during the Sundance Film Festival this year, The Devil We Know will undoubtedly strike a chord with the audience as many of the subjects they choose for the film will speak the truth and you guessed it! Â It is inconvenient. Can you handle it?
