Hudson Williams returns to the spotlight at the Toronto International Film Festival with YAGA, the new Canadian mystery series making its world premiere as part of TIFF 2026’s Primetime programme. Created by Kat Sandler and based on her acclaimed stage play, YAGA offers a contemporary reimagining of Baba Yaga mythology through a story blending mystery, noir, folklore and dark humour. Williams stars alongside an impressive Canadian cast that includes Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid and Clark Backo.

Hudson Williams Brings YAGA to TIFF 2026

For Hudson Williams, YAGA represents another major moment in the Canadian actor’s rising career. The series revolves around the disappearance of a wealthy heir in a quiet coastal town, setting off an investigation that uncovers secrets lurking beneath the community’s seemingly peaceful surface. As the mystery deepens, the investigation becomes increasingly connected to local folklore and the legend of Baba Yaga, giving the series a distinctive supernatural edge.

Williams will also receive some extra attention at TIFF with Making Waves With… Hudson Williams, giving festival audiences an opportunity to hear from the actor before YAGA makes its world premiere later that day. With Williams taking centre stage alongside some of Canada’s most recognizable performers, YAGA arrives at TIFF as one of the festival’s intriguing Primetime selections—and another opportunity for Hudson Williams to continue building his profile with audiences in Canada and beyond.
