HOT DOCS 2018: TRANSFORMER

We were privileged here on FERNTV to speak with Canadian director Michael Del Monte during the Hot Docs Press Conference 2018.  His film Transformer focuses on former US Marine and world record powerlifter Matt “Kroc” Kroczaleski and his journey of becoming a woman.  When Matt becomes Janae he quickly becomes rejected professionally and personally.  That does not stop Janae living the life she want to live as a woman as this difficult and emotional journey becomes driven by heart.  The same goes for director Michael Del Monte who puts a lot of heart and soul into this documentary film that focuses on a touchy subject.  Having won the Audience Choice Award and Best Documentary at the Austin Film Festival, you can sense that there is more to this film that will have audiences and filmmakers alike more inspired than ever.   FERNTV spoke to Michael Del Monte to discuss the Transformer into more depth.
