Jack O’ Connell is Rupert Murdoch in Danny Boyle’s Ink

Danny Boyle‘s Ink will be premiering at TIFF as it was announced today along with many others under Special and Gala Presentations. The Slumdog Millionaire director is also opening this film at the Venice Film Festival which already has many cinephiles excited about his next installment. Ink centers around Rupert Murdoch‘s high-stakes transformation of The Sun newspaper in the late 1960s. The story picks up in 1969, the year Murdoch acquired the struggling paper and partnered with Lamb to turn it into a sensationalist publishing juggernaut. The film was recently picked up by Netflix.

Other notables during today’s announcement are Peter Farrelly’s Play Rocky, which focuses on the story of Sylvester Stallone. The film focuses on the story of when Stallone bet on himself to write the screenplay of an underdog boxer with the intent of playing the boxer himself. Director Florian Zeller casts a great ensemble including Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Paul Dano in Bunker. FERNTV‘s favourites Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi come back to TIFF for Everest: The Other Side. Chris Rock also gets behind the camera with the film Misty Green.
