Spider-Noir is an upcoming live-action superhero drama premiering globally on Prime Video on May 27, 2026. The eight-episode series stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York who is forced to confront his past as the city’s only masked vigilante, known as the Spider. The show blends classic Marvel mythology with the shadowy atmosphere of film noir, presenting a darker and more grounded interpretation of the Spider-Man archetype.

Set during the Great Depression, the series explores Reilly’s struggle with loss, regret, and identity as he becomes entangled in dangerous criminal conspiracies and personal tragedy. Inspired by the Marvel Noir comics, this version departs from traditional Spider-Man stories by focusing on a weary detective rather than a young hero, emphasizing moral ambiguity and emotional complexity. Supporting cast members include Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, and Brendan Gleeson, who help bring this gritty reimagining of the Spider-Verse to life.

Visually, Spider-Noir pays homage to classic noir cinema and will be available to stream in both black-and-white and full-colour formats, allowing viewers to experience its stylized world in different ways. The series marks Cage’s first leading television role and expands Sony’s live-action Spider-Man universe for streaming audiences. With its unique tone, period setting, and character-driven storytelling, Spider-Noir promises to offer a fresh, cinematic take on one of Marvel’s most iconic heroes. FERNTV says the Spiderverse just got that much darker but better.
