Oscar Issac is Dr. Victor Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein

Word on the streets of Toronto is that during a screening with Guillermo del Toro a decade ago, he was working on getting the rights to make his version of Frankenstein. Now his biggest passion project to date has come to fruition, and it is going to make its premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

The director of the Academy Award-winning Best Feature for The Shape of Water back in 2017 is again dealing with another monster that has had an impact on literature, the film industry and pop culture. Frankenstein is the monster that is going to get its revival at TIFF this September. But this time around it will be Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of the Mary Shelley classic.

The tall, iconic creation of Dr. Frankenstein is to be played by heartthrob Jacob Elordi. Oscar Issac will be taking the reins of the crazy and ambitious Dr. Victor Frankenstein. Rounding out this well-curated ensemble is Christoph Waltz, who plays Harlander and already horror icon of the X series is Mia Goth, who plays Elizabeth. Charles Dance is the icing on the cake in this movie as he also makes an appearance. This is the cast that is going to bring Guillermo del Toro‘s vision of Frankenstein to that next century fantasy level. And a way that we have never seen Frankenstein before.
