Daniel Craig returns as Benoit Blanc in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the eagerly anticipated third installment in Rian Johnson’s acclaimed whodunit franchise, is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September 2025. The film stars Daniel Craig, reprising his role as the astute detective Benoit Blanc, this time facing what is described as his “most dangerous case yet” amid a more gothic-tinged mystery.

Joining Craig on the suspense-laden stage is a stellar ensemble, including Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, and Mila Kunis, alongside familiar faces like Josh O’Connor and Jeremy Renner, rounding out an all-star cast. The film continues TIFF’s trend of spotlighting blockbuster original mysteries—the previous Knives Out films both debuted with roaring acclaim at this very festival

After its TIFF premiere, Wake Up Dead Man will screen internationally at the London Film Festival on October 8, 2025, before launching globally on Netflix on December 12, 2025. Netflix is expected to offer a limited theatrical run, likely qualifying it for awards consideration, mirroring the strategy used for Glass Onion. Rian Johnson continues to explore new tonal boundaries in his tribute to classic Christie-style mysteries, with Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc back in the spotlight.

The film promises a fresh and darker twist on the beloved detective saga. All indications suggest that its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will kick off what could be this fall’s most talked-about movie, especially with that ensemble cast stirring early buzz. FERNTV says that this will be Daniel Craig at his finest.
