Red Carpet of The Dead Don’t Hurt @TIFF2023
Viggo Mortensen leads his film’s cast and crew to the red carpet at TIFF 2023

There was much to look forward to regarding the red carpet premiere of The Dead Don’t Hurt at the Princess of Wales Theatre. There was much star power on this carpet and Canadian actors and actresses whom FERNTV got introduced to. Director Viggo Mortensen was the main star of this feminist western getting behind and in front of the camera. He casts German actress Vickey Kreips received the TIFF Tribute Award during TIFF. She plays French Canadian Vivienne Le Coudy who must fend herself off domineering men in the 1860s. Mortensen also plays Holger Olsen who starts a relationship with Vivienne but then has to leave her to fight in the civil war.
The Dead Don’t Hurt features a Quebecois contingent in the cast as they are led by Canadian actress Véronique Chaumont and Frederick Tremblay who play Vivienne’s parents. Canadian actress Nadia Litz also shows up on the red carpet to talk about her role in the film and the pending strikes. Young actor Atlas Green rounds up the crew representing Canada as he gives his take on his experience playing Young Vincent in The Dead Don’t Hurt.
This red carpet showed how much director Viggo Mortensen supports the Canadian film industry by casting Canadians. Executive director George Bennett speaks to the concept of the film on the red carpet. He reflects on this feminist western directed by a male as well as how males may view the film and their feedback. But he really spoke highly of Vicky Kreips and her work ethic through playing this role that will probably change the face of not only cinema but the industry in itself.
