FERNTV PODCAST WITH CREW FROM YOU MIGHT BE THE KILLER

You got to really admire the concept behind the film You Might Be the Killer which closed out the Toronto After Dark Film Festival.  It is a comedy slasher horror film that ironically makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside which is what the doctor might have ordered for you after an intense, scary, insane week at Toronto After Dark Film Festival.  You Might Be the Killer has all the elements of a great slasher flick which reminds us of 80s horror flicks like Friday the 13th and Sleepaway Camp.   Director Brett Simmons puts some effective twists and turns in the film where the main character who is a camp counselor by the name of Sam, played by Fran Kranz, is bothered by these blackouts he has been getting and every time he gets them there is someone in his camp that becomes a murder victim.  Furthermore, he seeks out the advice of his horror-loving friend Chuck, played by Alyson Hannigan, as they both try to figure who is the killer by backtracking all of Sam’s steps.

You Might Be the Killer is genius because it really takes us back to the classics and pays respect to all of the great horror films that made the horror genre what it is today.  The film is insanely fun because you really want to figure which films it references throughout its duration.   What we really love most about the film is that it flashes back to how we once used to live with video stores that built communities of movie and horror lovers.  We have come to the realization that those days are long gone and that in today’s world we had to build our film or horror loving communities in different ways but mainly through the internet.  FERNTV spoke to both director Brett Simmons and actor Fran Kranz who takes us back in time and how You Might Be The Killer was sliced up from the beginning.
