Barbara Jordan in The Inquisitor

There was no doubt that FERNTV was going to inquire about the documentary The Inquisitor during its red carpet premiere at Tribeca Film Festival. Those who came forth to give us more insight towards the life of Barbara Jordan was an enlightening experience. Director Angela Lynn Tucker, producers Trevite Willis and Moira Griffin as well as NYC mayoral candidate Brad Lander were amongst those who spoke of the trailblazing journey of Barbara Jordan. This documentary first got started when Angela Lynn Tucker saw the first black woman to voted into Congress in a clip where she spoke at Watergate. It was all then a green light for the film crew of The Inquisitor who are still amazed as to why it has taken this long to put a biopic together on this icon.

This is one of the reasons as to why producers Trevite Wills and Moira Griffin hopped on board for this project because nothing has ever been done on Barbara Jordan before. As well as the fact that figures who are overlooked like Barbara Jordan need to be told. The Inquisitor hopes to start an amazing trend that will begin to tell stories about those who are overlooked and fought for justice and rights. Barbara Jordan was no slouch when it came to this battle when she fought for black, women and disability rights. Not only when she came into Congress but much before when she gained the voice to speak of those issues.

NYC mayoral candidate Brad Lander could not have said it any better when he spoke to FERNTV about why he supports the film. He mentions that we are all temporarily able bodied and to picture NYC if it did not fully cater to the disabled community. It brought to light of how those such as Barbara Jordan have done wonders in addressing this issue that still continues to be fought today. Yes we need more documentary films on trailblazers like Barbara Jordan because we will never be grateful for what they fought for. But first and foremost we must bring these figures to light.
