Fantastic Four MCU Setting is 1960s New York
The upcoming edition of the Fantastic Four will be featured during the 1960s in New York.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, recently revealed on the “Official Marvel Podcast” that the upcoming “Fantastic Four” movie will be set in the 1960s in New York City. This announcement has sparked excitement among fans, as it promises a fresh and nostalgic take on the beloved superhero team. By setting the film in the 1960s, Marvel aims to capture the essence of the original comics, which debuted during that era and reflected the social and cultural dynamics of the time.
Feige’s decision to place the Fantastic Four in the 1960s aligns with Marvel Studios’ broader strategy of exploring different periods and genres within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This approach not only differentiates the Fantastic Four from other superhero teams but also allows for unique storytelling opportunities deeply rooted in the historical context of the Cold War, the space race, and the cultural revolution of the 1960s. Fans can expect to see iconic elements from the original comics, such as the team’s early adventures and their interactions with other historical figures and events of the decade.
This revelation also underscores Marvel Studios‘ commitment to honouring the legacy of the Fantastic Four while introducing them to a new generation of viewers. By choosing a period setting, Feige and his team aim to create a film that appeals to both long-time fans and newcomers, offering a rich narrative experience that pays homage to the source material. As Marvel continues to expand its cinematic universe, the Fantastic Four’s 1960s adventure is poised to be a significant and exciting addition, blending classic comic book storytelling with the innovative spirit of the MCU.
The superhero quartet in Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four” — the first characters created for Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby — will be played by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). The cast also includes Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and Julia Garner.
Matt Shakman (“WandaVision,” “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”) is directing “Fantastic Four” from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
FERNTV says that this will be released in theatres July 25th, 2025.
