Just as Bach, Mozart and Beethoven were great composers in their day, John Digweed is in that same league of extraordinary gentleman when it comes to putting together a musical composition. “Structures” is an album that John Digweed has carefully put together piece by piece to give you the utmost listening experience. Of course, John does not disappoint with any album he drops as he always makes you picture yourself on the middle of the dancefloor or right beside the man himself. To complement this album a little further, John has collaborated with Pablo Casacuberta to bring you the documentary “Eye of the Storm” which is a visual representation of John Digweed. Name That Track was lucky enough to catch up with John to discuss this upcoming masterpiece of an album...

NTT:  I know that "Structures" is an album made to put the big guns on an album with the rising stars of Bedrock Records but did you have something else in mind in terms of the direction of this album?

John: Each album is like a jigsaw, but I have to find all the tracks to piece them all together to make the final picture. it`s a lot of work but also great fun when you get sent a few tracks that you know will complete the picture

NTT: Are some of the artists on this album ones you have discovered on your own by going out and seeing the talent or ones that drop their mixes or tracks in your inbox?

John: Most of these tracks have been sent to me by the artists and I am a fan of what they do so I contacted them and asked them to do a remix or an original track for this album.

NTT:  Is there an artist on your label that has a work ethic that surprises you or kind of reminds you of how you were when you first started out in this industry?

John: I really like what Guy J is doing he is very passionate about his approach to music and his performance which is very important.
NTT: What are some of the elements that you look for when signing on a new artist?

John: I'm looking for original sounding tracks for each album I do. Its important that the sound of this album has moved on from the last album. The artists I work with are great.

NTT:  Can you comment on the "Eye of the Storm" documentary?

John: Well, I think it`s a chance for me to give people a chance to find out about my history from the start of my career right through to what I am up to now, Pablo did an amazing job creating a fantastic visual backdrop.

NTT:    What is a track that you love to play from the Structures album that everyone wants you to name?

John: Ian O`Donovan's Aurora Borealis is my favourite track on there as it still make the hairs on my neck tingle.
