The first ever Clandestine Artist Showcase night at Nocturnal during WMC was an impressive night to say the least. I was really favouring the most underground sounding techno on the main floor of the Nocturnal nightclub and was just blown away by the sets that were being thrown down that night. My intentions was of course going to the ViVa Music party just next door at SPACE but something told me that this night and of course Paul Ritch who is of course responsible for the massive hit Split The Line last year was going to be something interesting to watch. Rightly so, Paul Ritch threw down an intelligent set without the use of headphones. Who does that?
Despite having sound problems during their set, Alexi Delano and Camea set the stage for Paul Ritch with their banging style of techno. Immediately Camea became one of my favourite techno female DJs. Camea just seems to spin with grace and seems to do it with ease and is far more appealing than the Polish Princess Magda and far more articulate than Ida Engberg. Both Alexi and Camea were just well into their craft that night and came on at a time when the crowd was getting everything on top of their drink on.
I was really surprised by Get Physicals DJ T and Thomas Schumacher set that night. Never really thought these two can pump out underground techno like the others did that night but was I ever mistaken. I immediately thought that these two were only capable of that Get Physical style of that slow Berlin tech house but these two definitely picked up the pace no problem. But how could i ever underestimate the label boss DJ T! I mean he is the one who put Booka Shade and M.A.N.D.Y under one label.

I really like the direction the Clandestine Artists is heading toward in the future. This New York-Berlin connection will probably will be hard to contain in the future because these are music capitals of the world. To bring these two cities together is like bread and butter going hand in hand. Which means the techno that this agency will bring will be quite delicious to the ear. It seems out of the artists that is under the Clandestine camp, Paul Ritch would have to be the diamond in the rough. He and perhaps Mathias Kaden as an honorable mention will be the two who will carry this camp to new heights in the future. Here at Name That Track we look forward to what this agency will bring to the table because this is one deadly artist line-up that is certainly not messing around. The birth of real underground slap you in the fucking face techno has been born! Thank God.
