If you are looking for a unique sound then maybe it is time to look towards the Southern Hemisphere and listen to the music of Antix. The brotherly duo that comprises of Hayden and Barton Strom are channeling the electronica waves all over the globe with their utmost creative sound that differs totally from the repetitive and cheesy norm. The new Berlin is forming in Auckland, New Zealand and Antix is setting the record straight. Or rather setting the track straight with their exciting album “Cavalier”. Name That Track caught up with Hayden Strom to discuss the album a little further and how their deep sounds is certainly rising to the occasion...

NTT:   So tell us what the club scene is like Auckland because it is of course very far from the hot spots of dance music?

Hayden: Its quite a vibrant scene here, a good bunch of local talent and its growing. Auckland is the new Berlin :)

NTT:   Can yo tell about some of the history of how this genre of music actually reached in New Zealand?

Hayden: ...like most Western countries NZ learns about music through the internet and the radio, we have some great stations down these parts playing very cutting edge interesting music. Also Kiwis are big travelers, so for a lot of us, we've done our time in London, NY, Tokyo, Berlin etc and bringing back the vibe.

NTT:   When and how did Antix come about?

Hayden: After Djing in the 90's, it was a natural progression to learn the art of production. Back then it was quite a bit harder to get into with the lack of technology available, so i headed to Japan to pick up gear and a year later returning with a keyboard, sampler and a few others pieces to set up a studio.  Antix was born a few years later around the year 2000 and since then haven't looked back.

NTT:   Can you tell us a little bit about this new album compared to the other albums you have done in the past?

Hayden: We are really proud of the new album 'Cavalier'. we treated it as a album as opposed to a collection of dance tracks. Not thinking about it too much, enjoying the process and writing music we wanted to hear as opposed to what people wanted to hear.

NTT:   What is it like to work with Dousk?

Hayden: To be honest we have never meet him, but a fans of his work and are very happy to have him working with us.

NTT:  Can you tell us a track that you love to play that everyone wants you to name?

Hayden: Dark Flower. Robert Babicz (Joris Voorn remix)
