NTT: It must have been difficult to be a DJ, producer and promoter all at the same time especially in Germany where there is probably so much competition in the music industry?
Ante: Of course it is a fulltime job. Especially in the Ruhr Area we have many promoters, dj´s and producers. But I have a good team behind me and a good structure to manage the work! I do that business now nearly for 10 years and I have learnd a lot.. We always try to focus on quality instead of quantity!
NTT: Steve Lawler comes to Toronto and plays his annual Skybar set here every Canada Day and he has played your track "Affetanz" two years in a row because its that awesome...how important is that when a DJ plays and supports your track especially on the other side of the pond.
Ante: It is the most important thing that DJ´s like Steve play my tracks and of course it´s an honor. Great hits are always born, if they were played by big names. In Germany you can say if Sven, Ritchie or Ricardo play an unknown track, it will be a hit for sure!
NTT: What does "Affetanz" mean anyway?
Ante: Affentanz means monkey dance. The monk vocals were made by Tube&Berger and me. It was a really funny session to make that crazy vocals by ourselves.
NTT: You are influcenced by a lot of hip-hop music...do you find that the gangsterism/b-boy vibe you used to find in classic hip-hop tunes are now being found in minimal techno music?
Ante: I do not think so. I was influenced by bands like Naughty by Nature or A Tribe Called Quest. You can not compare that with Minimal Techno.
NTT: What's the Flashing Disco Sound concept?
Ante: Just to play the music I like to flash the people. And thats a lot! I love to play the whole evening. It is a journey through all kind of electronic music!
