No I’m not talking about Nelly Furtado but Bence Mate who is probably the leading bird photographer of the world. This gentleman definitely knows where his soul is as this short film called The Invsible Bird Photographer shown at Planet in Focus was a definite must see.
It’s funny that sometimes we never see what one goes through to attain their goals. In this film, we definitely see what extremes that Bence Mate has to go through in order to become the best bird photographer. Not only does the story of the lifestyle of this man appealing but what made this film that much better was the simple images that was produced for this film.
The reason as to why the images are so good is its because it is behind the eye of this photographer. Bence at times looks like he is going to war in this film but he is sporting the camoflauge to hide from the birds. In order to get the best shots, Bence must become like birds as we see him in this film building huts by rivers or lakes because this where a bird eats, bathes, and mates.
Bence must be also attentive at the most weirdest times of the day such as sunrise and sunset to make the most of his photoshoot journeys because these are the times when they are most active. Bence is so extreme at some points in the film like when he gets into a water suit in deep freezing temperatures under water just to hide from a Blue Heron. He even risks his life and risks freezing to death to just get a shot.
There would be absolutely no way that Bence would never be the best bird photographer in the world if he did not pick up the mentality of a bird himself aside from the risks he takes. His award winning shots that wins all the time is breathtaking and let alone inspiring. Bence Mate best represents the meaning of sacrifice and shows this very well throughout the course of the film. There is not a better film does not teach the very meaning of what sacrifice is all about and the rewards one can receive by making them. If that does not inspire you to reach your goals then this film was definitely for the birds.
