Chasing Jones is a band that definitely knows what to do in order to be heard. Only two years since its birth, Chasing Jones are going through the motions to learn all about this industry but most importantly how their music is going to evolve and grow in the upcoming years. Knowing that bands will go through their growing pains in their early years, Chasing Jones were ready for that challenge since the beginning. With a soothing melodic sound thats topped with Nick Di Lullo’s infectious voice, Chasing Jones are ready to bring their sound to Canadian Music Week. With a new EP entitled “Stay Tonight” about to drop, Chasing Jones definitely knows that being left behind is not an option which is why they are always going to be on top of their game. What do you expect when you come from the city of champions? FERNTV got an exclusive interview with guitarist Adam Di Lullo...

FERNTV:   Can you briefly describe how the band got together?

Adam: The band has been together since 2007. Myself and my brother had been playing in other bands separately for years. I don’t think it ever crossed our minds to play together until I had left the band I was playing with. Nick wasn't playing with anyone at that time so we just sat down together and decided to get a two song demo together and send it out to find some musicians. Ever since then things have just been rolling for us.

FERNTV: Give us the low down on how the indie rock scene is like in Edmonton?

Adam: Whatever the Indie Scene in Edmonton is, I can tell you we are about as far off as you can be from it. We've never played a show in Edmonton where the bands we play with sound anything like us. It's cool to be weird, loud and rough sounding here, making us 0/3 in that regard.  We have a couple of stations in Edmonton who plays our single but for the most part our sound doesn’t fit on most formats . We try not to focus on it though, with all the success and support we see coming from other places in Canada and even in the US, it's easy to stay positive.

FERNTV: You have a very exciting album release this year...can you tell us a little about it?

Adam: Our new EP is entitled “Stay Tonight”, it will be out at the end of this month. We're really happy with it and we're looking forward to sharing it with everyone. Our last EP was written mostly by my brother Nick. Blair and Dwayne weren’t even in the band at that point. So to get all 4 of us writing together this time around opened up our sound and I think we came away with 5 songs that we are all proud of.

FERNTV: You have shared the stage with some big acts like Tokyo Police Club, and Hot Panda but is there a band that taught Chasing Jones a lot about this industry?

Adam: This industry is a tough one, its ever changing and if you don’t keep up you get left behind. As much as music is art, it's also a business. I mean unless artists make money, its never more than a hobby. We are constantly trying to learn as much as we can since right now this band does everything for itself with very little outside help, but doing it this way is helping us see how things work and what we need to do to keep things going well.

FERNTV:   How does it feel to be apart of CMW?

Adam: Going to Canadian Music Week for us is a big deal. I think there are less than 10 bands from Edmonton going so we feel very lucky. There are going to be so many important people there and so many great artists playing, it really is an honour to be apart of it. Plus I have never been to Toronto, for some reason...

FERNTV: Is Jones a girl like Amy?

Adam: Isn't Amy some girl Kevin Smith told Ben Affleck about so that he would see that leaving his lesbian girlfriend was a bad idea?
